Fabolous Sets Off Diddy’s ‘Gotta Move On’ Freestyle Challenge With Slick Remix

Fabolous isn’t taking his foot off the gas as he drops off another stellar freestyle, this time hopping on Diddy and Bryson Tiller‘s R&B smash “Gotta Move On.”

The Brooklyn rapper has been releasing a steady stream of new music over the past few weeks, including his flip of Jack Harlow and Drake’s “Churchill Downs,” which arrived earlier this month.

For his latest freestyle, Fabolous accompanies his bars with a red-tinted music video that mirrors the same hue Diddy has been using for any posts relating to his R&B label Love Records.

Back in my bag, back in my Fab/ Had to grab the white jacket and get back in the lab,” Fabolous opens the track. “I thought you had my back ’til my back’s getting stabbed/ Now I’m back in the Bach and you back in a cab.”

Later on the track, Fab switches to a delayed flow as he spits: “Maybach Mercedes, newborn baby, yeah/ Putting that shit on like AB, yeah/ Playing with the Buccs like Brady, yeah/ Think I’m running back is crazy, yeah.

Fab’s bars caught the attention of Diddy, who proceeded to issue a “Gotta Move On” freestyle challenge because he was so impressed.

“Hey yo, check this out. My whole thing is I’m a platform. I’m a platform of flyness,” Diddy said on Instagram. “So right now, I’ma set off this open verse challenge. Because I know there’s a lot of MCs that’s out there that actually rap.

“So it’s an open verse challenge to see who can muthafuckin’ spit the best 24 — or if you only got 16 then you can do that — but if it ain’t up to par of Fab then you don’t get with the winnings.”

Whoever Diddy deems the best will win a co-sign from Diddy, although he doesn’t think anyone will top Fab. “I don’t know if anybody’s gonna win this one,” he said, before adding: “Everybody put the record on repeat. Fuck that! We going No. 1!”

“Gotta Move On” also comes with its own dance which Diddy shared in a tutorial last month in an Instagram post.

After sharing the moves on his Instagram page, his girlfriend, City Girls rapper Yung Miami, headed to the comment section to leave her two cents on the routine. The moves featured Diddy moving his body to left then right before going backward and forward.

“Diddy plsss,” Yung Miami commented under the post with a series of crying laughter emojis.

After laying low for much of 2022, Fabolous had a busy August on the music side. He served up a pair of new tracks after being challenged by Hot 97’s Funk Flex to drop new music. Days later, Fab teamed up with Jim Jones for the Hitmaka-produced “Rich Hustle.”

In September, Fab teamed up with Dave East for the long-teased “Back To Bach” freestyle, which samples Loose Ends’ classic 1985 record “You Can’t Stop the Rain.” He also dropped a freestyle called “Easy,” the video for which features guest appearances from Fivio Foreign and DaniLeigh.

Fabolous’ hasn’t released a full-length album since 2019’s Summertime Shootout 3: Coldest Summer Ever featuring several heavy hitters such as Meek Mill, Lil Durk, Gucci Mane, Roddy Ricch and more.
