Fivio Foreign Opens Up About Pop Smoke’s Death: ‘That Shit Hit Hard’

Fivio Foreign has opened up about the death of his friend Pop Smoke in a new interview, revealing that he was with the “Dior” rapper the night before his death.

Speaking on Gillie Da Kid and Wallo’s Million Dollaz Worth Of Game Podcast, the Brooklyn native took a minute to reflect on his last moments with Pop Smoke.

“I was just in the studio with him, me, him and Polo the night before,” Fivio explained. “He had flew out that same night. He was in New York the night before it happened, so he had flew out, and I didn’t know he flew out, so when I saw the shit on Instagram and I saw n-ggas reposting it, I’m like, ‘Why n-ggas posting fake news like that?’”

He continued: “I know the n-gga not in L.A. Home invasion, but he don’t live in L.A.? It was true, and I’m like, ‘Oh shit.’ I was getting so many calls, and that’s when I knew it was really true with the calls I was getting. That shit hit hard. It hit everybody hard.”

Pop Smoke was murdered during a home invasion gone wrong on February 19, 2020. Five hooded men broke into the home Pop was renting through Airbnb and took a woman in the property hostage. Pop found the intruders and complied with their demands to give up his jewelry before attempting to fight them, which led to Pop getting shot.

Police arrived at the scene six minutes later, finding Pop Smoke with several bullet wounds. He was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a few hours after doctors performed surgery on him.

Pop’s untimely death left a massive hole in the New York drill scene. Many didn’t think drill music would last following Pop Smoke’s death, including Fivio, who told Gillie and Wallo he wasn’t sure if the sound would move any further.

Elsewhere in his interview with the Million Dollaz Worth Of Game podcast, Fivio revealed he’s still signed to former Bad Boy Records rapper Ma$e and shed light on his alleged shady business practices.

According to Fivio, he was pressured into the deal. “The n-gga that brought me to him, he was like, ‘Yo, man. Just sign that shit. You bugging,’” he explained. “I’m like, ‘Yeah, read it.’ He’s like, ‘Alright, just sign it. It’s good,’ so I just signed it. Advance was $5,000.”

He added: “I thought that shit was going to last until whenever it was going to last. That shit ain’t last two weeks […] Ma$e know the business. He really know the business a lot. I didn’t know nothing.”
