Kodak Black's Lawyer Demands A Third Party Test Drugs Allegedly Seized By Police
Kodak Black found himself in a wild situation over the weekend that landed him in jail. He was released on a $75,000 bond, but it doesn’t look like he’s going down without a fight.
According to a report by Radar Online, Yak wants his lawyer to be allowed to check the drugs allegedly found in his vehicle during his recent arrest on Friday (July 15). Bradford Cohen, Kodak’s attorney, filed a motion to inspect the evidence by a third party in the criminal case.
“It is impossible … to explore a defense on behalf of [Kodak] without being able to inspect, weigh, and independently test the substances,” Cohen said in a statement regarding the new motion.
Kodak’s team is arguing the drug test by a third party is “essential to ensure his right to a fair hearing, his right to confrontation, his right to prepare a defense on his own behalf, his right to effective assistance to counsel, and due process of law pursuant to the protections afforded to him by the Sixth and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution and the Florida Constitution.”

The Pompano Beach native was arrested on Friday while driving around Fort Lauderdale in a Dodge Durango that police believed had too much tint on the windows. Officers claimed the vehicle smelled of marijuana, which led to them searching it and allegedly finding 31 oxycodone pills and $74,960 in cash.
In addition, the rapper’s tags and license were also expired, leading him to be locked up on two felony charges —possession of a controlled substance without prescription and trafficking. Kodak Black pleaded not guilty and paid the bond.
“Never judge a case based on an arrest,” Cohen said following his client’s arrest. “There are facts and circumstances that give rise to a defense, especially in this case. We negotiated a bond of $75,000 and we will move forward with resolving the matter quickly.”
