Lil Baby's Powerful Protest Song ‘The Bigger Picture’ Certified Double Platinum

Atlanta, GA – Lil Baby has added yet another plaque to his growing collection.

In their latest round of certifications, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced on Wednesday (August 11) that the Atlanta rapper’s 2020 hit “The Bigger Picture” is now double platinum, meaning it has sold at least two million units in the U.S. from sales plus streaming.

With this latest plaque, Lil Baby now has six multi-platinum singles, including the Drake-assisted “Yes Indeed” which is currently 6x platinum, as well as an additional half-dozen platinum songs.

“The Bigger Picture” has enjoyed rapid success since it landed in June 2020. The song went gold (signifying 500,000 sales) just a month after its release before reaching platinum status in January.

The Noah Pettigrew and Section 8-produced track also won the award for Impact Track at the 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards while being nominated for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.

Arriving amidst the wave of Black Lives Matter protests following George Floyd‘s death at the hands of Minneapolis police last summer, “The Bigger Picture” was described by HipHopDX‘s Riley Wallace as “simultaneously the sobering deep breath and fire-starting rally for change Hip Hop needed at this exact moment.”

The song was accompanied by a powerful and timely video, which found Baby on the front lines of a Black Lives Matter protest in his hometown of Atlanta.

In March, Lil Baby delivered an equally resonant performance of “The Bigger Picture” at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.

“The Bigger Picture” is taken from Lil Baby’s sophomore album My Turn, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 back in March 2020. The album — featuring guest spots from Future, Lil Wayne, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert and 42 Dugg — boasts its own multi-platinum plaque having been certified triple platinum by the RIAA in February.
