Lil Nas X Teases BET Diss Song Featuring NBA YoungBoy Following 2022 BET Awards Snub

Lil Nas X is taking his attack on BET to the next level. The Montero star was rightfully frustrated after the 2022 BET Awards denied him any nominations earlier in June, and now he’s channeling that frustration into a volatile diss track.

The 23-year-old took to Instagram to preview a new song called “Late to the Party,” which opens with him rapping, “Fuck BET.” The track features guest vocals from NBA YoungBoy, who was also snubbed by the BET Awards despite his continued success over the last year.

Lil Nas X had a lot to say last week when he realized neither he nor his platinum album Montero had appeared on the list of noms.

“Thank you bet awards,” Nas X wrote in a since-deleted tweet. “An outstanding zero nominations again. black excellence!”

He continued, “idk maybe 3 of the biggest songs of last year & a critically acclaimed album. feel like that should’ve helped me a bit … not even that, doesn’t even have to be me nominated. I just feel like black gay ppl have to fight to be seen in this world and even when we make it to the top mfs try to pretend we are invisible.”

Queen Latifah shared the young rapper’s frustrations, telling TMZ that she believes Lil Nas X had been snubbed.

“Lil Nas X is amazing,” she replied. “He should’ve been nominated. I don’t know if that’s the case. I don’t know what’s behind all that, but inclusion is always the key. That’s what we should be striving for. There’s enough room in this world for everybody.”

Still no word on when Lil Nas X plans to drop off this diss track, but considering the 2022 awards take place on June 26, it could be soon.
