Lil Wayne separated himself from his peers when he went on an insane mixtape run in the mid-2000s. The New Orleans, Louisiana native jumped on songs by other artists and annihilated the production with his own set of fiery verses.
One of the mixtapes from the tail end of that era was Sorry 4 The Wait, a project Wayne released in July 2011 as an apology to fans waiting on Tha Carter IV. Now, over a decade later, Weezy is finally bringing the mixtape to all streaming platforms.
On Saturday (January 8), Lil Wayne took to Instagram with a post announcing the news, accompanied by an animated video soundtracked by Wayne’s freestyle over Gunplay’s “Rollin.” Tunechi didn’t reveal a release date, but he did notify fans that the mixtape is available to pre-save on Spotify and Apple Music.

Sorry 4 The Wait found Lil Wayne jumping on tracks by the likes of Drake, Meek Mill, Beyoncé, Waka Flocka Flame and even Adele. The tape was originally made available on YouTube and mixtape platforms such as Datpiff. It’ll be the third Wayne mixtape to be reissued on streaming platforms following 2009’s No Ceilings and 2015’s Free Weezy Album (FWA).
Sorry 4 The Wait might not be the only Lil Wayne mixtape hitting streaming services this year. As Young Money president Mack Maine hinted at last year, the label has ambitions to reissue Wayne’s entire mixtape catalog.
“If we could, we’d put all of [the tapes] up in one month,” he told Billboard. “It’s a tedious process. It’s not like a one-day thing. But we’re going to hopefully get all those mixtapes [up].”
While he’s getting ready to rerelease another mixtape, Lil Wayne recently revealed his NBA Finals predictions. The diehard Los Angeles Lakers fan doesn’t see his beloved team lifting the Larry O’Brien trophy this season, though.
“If I’m going to be fair and truthful: four teams,” Wayne admitted. “I think it’s going to come down to Milwaukee and Brooklyn [in the Eastern Conference] and as far as in the West, I think it’s going to be a shocker like Memphis. And I think you gotta worry about Phoenix again. They’re gelling. They ready.”
