Lil Wayne & Mark Cuban Publicly Reconcile During Western Conference Finals

Lil Wayne’s sports allegiances aren’t much of a mystery if you’ve paid attention to the New Orleans legend’s lyrics and occasional appearances on FS1’s Skip & Shannon: Undisputed. After fiercely defending Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul to the point where he threatened to urinate in the mouth of Dallas Mavericks governor Mark Cuban, it appears the New Orleans Hot Boy has allowed cooler heads to prevail.

On Friday (May 20), Weezy was in San Francisco to watch Game 2 of the Western Conference Final between the Golden State Warriors and Cuban’s Mavericks. During halftime, Cuban went over to Wayne and the two exchanged pleasantries, apparently squashing a Twitter beef which kicked off weeks prior when Wayne took a shot at Mavericks’ guard Luka Doncic and things escalated from there.

Weezy initially fired off an incendiary tweet regarding Mavs all-world guard Luka Doncic after Doncic continued to draw fouls against Weezy’s good friend, Phoenix Suns guard Chris Paul.  After the New Orleans native referred to Luka as a “ho” during Game 4 of their second-round series, the Suns would only win one game the rest of the way as the NBA’s top regular-season team was bounced unceremoniously by the Mavericks in Game 7.

Doncic’s 35-point, 10-rebound performance during the 123-90 defeat came in front of Weezy and a completely shocked crowd at Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. With the Mavs moving on, Cuban decided to troll Wayne with lyrics from Tha Carter V’s “Uproar,” tweeting, “It’s a shit show, put you front row.”

The response prompted Wayne to immediately call out Cuban on Twitter and proclaim he’d “piss in ya fkin’ mouth.” The tweet was later deleted but Wayne had long placed his faith with Paul, not with Cuban or the Mavericks.

Weezy’s issue with the modern-day Mavs was a head-scratcher for longtime fans who recalled Wayne and his surrogate father Birdman partying with Cuban and the 2011 edition of the Mavs when they won the NBA championship over the Miami Heat. Ultimately, the two ironed out their differences thanks to a behind-the-scenes phone call. According to Mack Maine, Cuban and Weezy spoke ahead of Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals between Golden State and Dallas and hashed things out.

“Just got off da phone with @mcuban and @LilTunechi and IT’S ALL LOVE!!” he wrote.
