MF Doom’s Widow Wants Answers Regarding Hospital Treatment Before Death

It has been nearly three years since the tragic death of the legendary artist MF Doom. Since then, the artist’s widow, Jasmine Dumile, has reportedly addressed concerns following the conditions of his hospitalization. According to Leeds Live, doctors have claimed that the symptoms that led him to the hospital ultimately stemmed from a “rare” reaction to recently prescribed ACE inhibitors. Widely known as angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, this prescription is used to treat low blood pressure levels in patients.

Angioedema, which is defined as a “sudden swelling that is often caused by an allergic reaction,” was experienced by DOOM as a result of the reaction, the report states. Additionally, DOOM’s “tongue and throat had started to swell” prior to his arrival at the hospital. During that time, he was reputedly given only two doses of medication throughout the process.

In regard to the hospital related questions, Jasmin states that DOOM called her “in distress” while at the hospital. Meanwhile, prior to the report, DOOM professed in a statement to the Wakefield Coroner’s Court that he was placed in an old room that “wasn’t set up” according to modern day protocols. Jasmin proclaims that she continuously called the nurses with another phone to alert them of her husband’s condition.

Also in question by Jasmin and the lawyers are problems regarding how consistently he was checked on at the hospital and why staff supposedly waited two hours to provide medication for his swollen throat. On October 21st, the report expressed that DOOM endured trouble breathing and tried to get off his hospital bed when he “collapsed and suffered respiratory arrest.” As a result of the COVID-19 conditions in 2020, DOOM’s wife was not permitted to visit him in the hospital, quoting that she “was not able to see him until the 31st [of October]—that’s when the respirator was turned off that was helping him breathe.”

In December 2020, Jasmine made public MF DOOM’s passing at the age of 49. She will forever remember him as “The greatest husband, father, teacher, student, business partner, lover and friend I could ever ask for”. “Thank you for all the things you have shown, taught and given to me, our children and our family. Thank you for teaching me how to forgive beings and give another chance, not to be so quick to judge and write off. Thank you for showing how not to be afraid to love and be the best person I could ever be. My world will never be the same without you. Words will never express what you and Malachi mean to me, I love both and adore you always. May THE ALL continue to bless you, our family and the planet.”
