Jazmine Sullivan Performs ‘Girl Like Me’ on ‘Tonight Show’
Jazmine Sullivan brought Heaux Tales to “The Tonight Show” for a special performance.
Backed by a pair of guitarists, the R&B songstress delivered a stripped-down rendition of the H.E.R.-assisted single on Tuesday’s show. Surrounded by plants, Jazmine showed off her flawless vocals in the intimate setting. “It ain’t right how these hoes be winning,” she sang. “And I ain’t wanna be / But you gon’ make a hoe outta me.”
Last week, she performed the album standout with H.E.R. during her Tiny Desk (Home) Concert for NPR.
Heaux Tales, the follow-up to 2015’s Reality Show, is expected to debut in the top 5 on the Billboard 200 with around 39,000 equivalent album units.
An emotional Jazmine recently opened up about her mother’s battle with breast cancer, revealing that she’s done with chemotherapy.
“Today is my moms final day of chemo! This is a huge milestone!” she tweeted. “Of all the blessings that are pouring in rt now… that is the only thing that matters to me!! I’m in tears and in awe of God’s grace n mercy! Anyone going thru breast cancer please know I’m praying for u!”
