Hammond, Louisiana is not only the home of the best strawberries it is also the birthplace of the rising soul singer Drea. Born Andrea Kaigler, the young artist developed her talent while singing in her church’s choir.  “I knew I wanted to become an entertainer when I led the church choir in the song Something about the name Jesus.” At that moment the songstress realized that she was destined to become an entertainer.

The vocalist is influenced by talented artists such as Aaliyah, Jhene Aiko, and D’Angelo. Their skill has greatly impacted her artistry. The artist allowed those influences to assist in the molding of her own unique sound. Drea has also used her past relationships and life experiences to aide in pushing her artistry forward. The Singer has incorporated elements of Neo-Soul that mirrors Jill Scott, Lauren hill, and Erykah Badu. She aims for her music to hold the same relevance if not more of those same artists.

The Louisiana native produces songs that will resonate with her listeners as a soundtrack to their life’s journey. She formulates words for her fans to use as motivation as they wake up to prepare for their day. “I can see my music being the therapy to some people’s everyday awakening. I can see it also crossing over in so many different directions because I aim to produce a feeling.”

Southern Soul is the genre of music she has tackled through her latest single Blame it all on me. She’s shifted her style with this new single by bringing a satisfying sound for her fans to two-step to. “They really do love the turn I took with this single because it is in relevance to southern soul which is fun feel good music.” Drea has built a strong fanbase that supports her music “They really do support new drops. They are patiently waiting for more.”

The message she is delivering to her fans is “There is nothing wrong with being a soulful lesbian that tells stories in her music.” She wants her music to impact the world by opening doors for unique and talented musicians.
