50 Cent, ‘L&HH' Creator Mona Scott-Young & Van Lathan Link For ‘Hip Hop Homicides’ Series

50 Cent has proven to have the Midas touch when it comes to producing television. After finding success with Power and the ensuing Power spin-offs, the Hip Hop mogul moved on to Black Mafia Family and now, Hip Hop Homicides.

According to Deadline, 50 Cent has teamed up with Love & Hip Hop creator Mona Scott-Young and former TMZ co-host Van Lathan to produce the non-scripted series for WEtv. From Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G., the show will explore the numerous unsolved murders in the Hip Hop community in an attempt to uncover details of what really happened.

50 Cent shared the news in an Instagram post on Thursday (January 20) with the caption, “Heat on the way WE tv, HIPHOP HOMICIDES GLG. GreenLightGang bulls eye another hit. #bransoncognac #lecheminduroi @vanlathan @monascottyoung. BOOM.”

50 Cent explained in a statement the intention behind the Hip Hop Homicides series, saying, “G-Unit Film and Television has thrived by telling real stories. As I continue to grow my current slate, premium non-scripted programming will be a major focus. Hip Hop loves things that are damaged. This series will shed light on the artists that didn’t make it through the struggle.”

Scott-Young added, “50 and I created this show in response to the disturbing number of murders in Hip Hop. With this boots-on-the-ground investigative series, we will look to closely examine and explore leads surrounding these cases with the hope of finally providing loved ones with answers.”

The eight-part series will air later this year on AMC Networks’ WEtv as well as its streaming service ALLBLK.
