Curren$y Proclaims Quarantine Leveled Playing Field For Lyricists As He Readies Hit-Boy Beats
Curren$y believes the COVID-19 pandemic has helped lyricists not get overshadowed by artists making music tailored for clubs and parties. The veteran MC says quarantine and restrictions on public gatherings have been beneficial to lyrical rappers despite preventing them from touring.
“Quarantine leveled the playing field for lyricist who want to stay true to their crafts at a time where the club pretty much dictates what we have to do to survive,” he wrote via Twitter. “the ‘lit’ stand on the couch music serves its purpose but so does the sit ya ass down and plot on a million music.”

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Curren$y has stayed busy by dropping multiple projects. He teamed up with producer Harry Fraud for a nine-track set titled The Director’s Cut in September after the two connected for The OutRunners in July.
Spitta isn’t slowing down either as he’s already prepping some new music with Hit-Boy. A day after making his claims about quarantine evening the playing field in Hip Hop, the Jet Life leader alerted fans to his brewing collaboration.
“Now to delve into this @Hit_Boyfolder….. roll sumthin up,” he tweeted.
Hit-Boy’s been making his presence felt in 2020, executive producing high-profile albums such as Big Sean’s Detroit 2 and Nas’ King’s Disease. The Grammy Award winner’s next big release is Benny The Butcher’s Burden Of Proof LP, which is scheduled to drop on Friday (October 16).
Considering how often Curren$y likes to deliver albums, mixtapes and EPs, Jet Lifers probably won’t be waiting long to hear his work with Hit-Boy. Spitta’s already put out more than a half dozen projects in 2020, and it’s hard to imagine he’s done for the year.
