Kid Cudi Reacts To Super Bowl-Bound NFL Star Joe Burrow Calling Him His 'Idol'

The Cincinnati Bengals are heading to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1989. After defeating the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday (January 30), Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow revealed he received some words of encouragement from fellow Ohio hero Kid Cudi and how Cudder’s 2013 “New York City Rage Fest” is a major part of his pre-game playlist every week.

“One of my idols growing up, Kid Cudi reached out to me yesterday. You said I got LeBron tweeting me or whatever you said it was,” Burrow told reporters post-game. “That part is surreal; the football part, not so much.”

When asked about his favorite Cudi track, Burrow replied, “I listen to ‘New York City Rage Fest’ every game day, right before I go out. Man on the Moon… I mean, I like all of his stuff.”

Burrow went on to name Cudi classics like “Soundtrack 2 My Life” and “Up Up & Away” and “all that good stuff from old Cudi” during his presser.

Kid Cudi quickly got wind of Joe Shiesty’s quotes making the rounds on social media and he returned the favor thanking the Bengals star for the love.

Man this has to be the illest shit ever beautiful fuckin game today brother,” Cudi replied on what also served as his 38th birthday on Sunday.

He also called the Bengals making their return to the Super Bowl the “best bday gift ever to be honest.”

When Joe Burrow was drafted by the Bengals first overall in 2020, he called Kid Cudi his favorite artist of all-time and the two have had a friendship since then. Cudi even recorded a video message saluting Burrow for officially entering NFL.

“Yo what’s good Joe, Cudder here,” he said at the time. “Just wanted to say it means so much that you chose me as your favorite artist, man. That means the most, Thank you! Mad love — mad love to you. Congratulations on being the number one draft pick! That’s wild, that’s crazy. You on your way, you just getting started, brother!”

Burrow helped engineer an 18-point comeback victory against the Chiefs with Cincy winning the AFC Championship on the road by a score of 27-24. They will now face-off against the hometown Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LVI on Feb. 13.
