Latto Stands Up For Abortion Rights In New Planned Parenthood PSA

Latto has joined the fight for abortion rights by delivering a new PSA for Planned Parenthood — check it out below.

It’s been two months since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, taking away America’s constitutional right to abortion. In a newly released PSA video, Latto teamed up with Planned Parenthood to call on her supporters to join the fight for abortion rights and access.

“We already know who’s going to be hurt the most by these ridiculous abortion bans: Black women, Brown women, the LGBTQ+ community, and communities with low incomes,” Latto said in a statement. “Because of this country’s history of racism and discrimination, these folks already have a hard time getting the health care they need.”

She continued: “We all deserve to be safe and it’s every person’s right to make decisions about their own bodies. As an artist, I want to use my platform to let these politicians know: My body is for no one to control, but me.”

In her PSA, Latto, who explains she teamed up with Planned Parenthood to “fight to restore our rights and expand access to care,” asks her supporters to join the cause and directs them to ‘Bans Off Our Bodies’ for more information.

“We’ve been privileged to have the support of many wonderful musical artists who are speaking out about the attacks on abortion,” explained Caren Spruch, National Director, Arts & Entertainment Engagement at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, in a statement.

“When a prominent artist like Latto uses their platform to amplify the need for reproductive rights for all, it’s a very powerful moment,” Spruch continued. “Latto’s voice will do so much to inspire others to use their voices, too, and we are thrilled that she is speaking her truth. In this time of widespread loss of abortion access, the time for us all to speak up is now.”

Latto’s involvement comes following the release of her recent single “Pussy,” which is a response to the overturning of Roe v. Wade that sends a strong message about who has the right to control a person’s body.

In addition to using her platform to spread awareness about this crisis, Latto is also donating a portion of the proceeds from the song’s release to Planned Parenthood.

“Pussy” was Latto’s first new track since her 777 album in March, which featured appearances from 21 Savage, Lil Durk, Nardo Wick, Kodak Black, Lil Wayne and Childish Gambino.

The album debuted at No. 15 on the Billboard 200, marking Latto’s highest-charting project to date. As for the album’s lead single “Big Energy,” the track peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, and was regarded as a feminist anthem.
