Lil Uzi Vert Announces He's 'Back In Classic Mode' As 'The Pink Tape' Wait Continues
Lil Uzi Vert fans are used to waiting for their favorite rapper to drop a new record. After all, they waited three years to get their hands on his sophomore effort, Eternal Atake, in 2020. So when Lil Uzi Vert announced he was hard at work on The Pink Tape, fans knew better than to get too excited. But Uzi has finally come through with an official update.
“This time less talkin’ more working,” Uzi wrote on his Instagram Story on Tuesday (May 10). “Going back in classic mode. I been [through] 2 much this time around. Nothin’ can break me.”

The Pink Tape would be Lil Uzi Vert’s first project since his collaborative album with Future, Pluto X Baby Pluto, which dropped in November 2020. While working on new solo material, the Luv Is Rage rhymer has also been hard at work repairing his love life. Uzi and City Girls’ JT were dating throughout 2019 until they unexpectedly broke up last September, which Uzi attributed to “dumb shit” on Twitter.
“Jt broke up with me over this dumb ass shit,” Uzi wrote alongside a walking-man emoji. “I don’t even do nothin FML.”
The pair have since reconciled, which could mean good things for Uzi’s Pink Tape. The Philadelphia native has also been doling out features. He recently linked up with Pooh Shiesty (“Next Up”), Yeat (“Big Tonka”), Pusha-T (“Scrape It Off”) and Nigo (“Heavy”).
