Watch Remy Ma & Papoose Rap Their Favorite Verses From Each Other
EXCLUSIVE – Remy Ma & Papoose were asked to share their favorite verses from each other, and the happy couple surprised each other with their picks.
The couple spoke to HipHopDX on the BET Hip Hop Awards red carpet last month, and Papoose chose to rap the opening bars from Remy Ma’s 2008 diss track “When I See Her,” which was recorded prior to her serving 8 years in prison for assault.
“60 seconds to a minute it’s a problem when I see her / 7 days a week, alternate sides of the street / I’m a drag that bitch like the mothafuckin’ beat,” he rapped.
Remy Ma admitted she hadn’t seen Papoose ever “act it out like that.” She then picked her husband’s 2005 track “The Underground King,” which shocked the “Heat 7” hitmaker.
“Yo that’s crazy! I want y’all to know I never ever knew that,” Papoose said. “This is my first time even hearing that information.”
“Cause he get mad gassed I gotta play the songs inside when I’m in the car by myself,” Remy said.
Remy Ma and Papoose have been busy enjoying their 14 years of marriage, and in August revealed how they keep their love alive after all this time.
“The kids helps with keeping things spicy!” Remy told HollywoodLife Podcast in a recent chat. “We’ll hug, and she’ll always want in on every hug, she wants in on every date, she wants in on everything! So, the second she’s asleep, it’s like oh, let’s go! We gotta try to get in where we can fit it in, you know?”
She continued, “We’ve spent time in closets! Hiding! It’s pretty easy when you have a kid, very spicy!”
The couple had their daughter Reminisce MacKenzie in 2018, the duo’s first child together, and Remy admitted the balancing act of being a rap superstar mother was hardly a cakewalk.
“It’s difficult, but it’s something as moms we have to do,” she said. “We have to figure out how to work while we’re pregnant, we have to figure out how to manage work and school, work and being a wife, and work as a carpenter, a chef, a gardener and all these other things that just fall on our plates as women, as moms, and as wives. It’s just something that we do.”
In more recent news, Remy Ma announced on Tuesday (October 11) she would be spearheading the first-ever women-led battle rap tournament aptly called The Tournament. The show will find 16 contestants lyrically duke it out in New York City for a $25,000 grand prize.
The Bronx rapper unveiled the participants in an Instagram video, with first-round match-ups between QB and Chayna Ashley, C3 and 40 BARRS, Chetta and E. Hart, set for October 30.
“All-female, first-ever in battle rap history,” Remy said in the clip. “All bitches can rap. It’ll be three rounds. Every round is 90 seconds. So that’s a minute and a half with a max of two minutes.”
As for Papoose, he dipped into his bag on Monday (October 10) to participate in Diddy’s “Gotta Move On” freestyle challenge, which Fabolous unintentionally started earlier this month.
