Peter Flaherty Reveals The Tragedy That Inspired Like A Dog, Baby

Talented musician, Peter Flaherty, returns with the new album Like A Dog, Baby. Produced and engineered by Steven Clark, the follow-up to a way, my love includes 15 tracks, among which are “Horses and Tidal Waves,” “Give It Up,” “Country,” “Circles,” “Validated,” “Only Sun,” and “Ocean Blue.”

Peter Flaherty says the album’s title song was written a week before his dog; Forrest died, “I was coming to terms with his prognosis and our inevitable good-bye. That dog had love to give and a life to live. It took a while after writing it to realise that it was also a proper name for the album. It’s like a circle… and I’m like a dog.”

Speaking of Like A Dog, Baby, the Indie-Folk singer-songwriter admits, “Songwriting is personal, and this is another stripped back project so there’s not much to lean on. Overall, pretty darn stoked to share some of these songs. I was getting tired of playing into the void.”

“I’m like a dog or men are like dogs. But not in the promiscuous sense entirely either. Dogs are loyal, loving, and will lay down their own life for their owner, pack or family. Dogs are the shit. But they also shit on the carpet sometimes, especially if you don’t let them outside,” explains Flaherty.

Like A Dog, Baby may lean towards the folk genre, but at the same time it delivers a style that is fluid. Peter Flaherty, in collaboration with Steven Clark, has created a unique sounding acoustic tracklist that stands out from the other folk-ish songs.
